Monday - October 31st - marked 19 years since Mike Mogan founded a company called Precision Reflector Design with a $7K personal loan, zero employees and a single purchase order. Mike started the company in a garage in Placentia, California. Precision moved a few times over the next decade or so as it grew - spending some time in Corona, Long Beach and Santa Ana before putting down roots in Yorba Linda. Location wasn't the only thing that changed about the company. From Precision Reflector Design, the company later changed its name to Precision Fluorescent and then to Precision-Lighting in 2007. Of course, that company only accounts for half of the [P2] story. The other half began in 1995 when Paragon Lighting was founded in Hudson, Wisconsin. While Precision was penetrating the east and west coasts, Paragon had established a strong presence in the north-central region. By 2007 both companies had become part of the Varon Lighting group. In 2009, the Varon Lighting group became part of Hubbell Incorporated. The potential for a combined national footprint created a compelling argument for the two energy-efficient lighting manufacturers to join forces, and so in early 2009 Precision-Lighting and Paragon Lighting became Precision-Paragon [P2]. The company that got its start 19 years ago with a single purchase order has grown into one of the country's leading manufacturers of energy-efficient lighting fixtures for industrial and commercial spaces. Today we have three integrated sales, support and manufacturing facilities spread across the country, and Precision-Paragon [P2] energy-efficient fixtures illuminate everything from dairy barns to sports stadiums in nearly every state. Happy birthday, to us. |
